Bikes in Bus Lanes in Edinburgh
The City of Edinburgh Council have issued a report on the use of Powered Two Wheelers in the City's bus lanes. The current recommendation of the report is that they do not allow bikes into bus lanes at present. However, the BMF have issued a response to this report and are challenging a lot of the findings.
The report, including all submissions from 'interested parties' was considered at a committee meeting on the 23rd of September 2008. when they decided against. Let's see if we can change their minds! See the campaigns section of the regional information page for more details rally later this year 2009.
Regional Reps Met on 15th Feb 2009 at Sevenoaks Pub, Pumpherston where three new reps were introduced, various items discussed, there was some disappointment at the reps training days having fallen through, hopefully reintroduced towards the end of the year.
It is with great sadness that we have to announce that the writer of the excellent BMF Scotland newsletter, Bill Nichol, passed away this morning, the 29th of July 2008. Bill had a huge motorcycling experience and was always willing to offer advice and help to anyone.
Bill will be greatly missed and the BMF in Scotland sends it's condolences to his family and close friends. We hope to produce a obituary for Bill soon.
It is possible that on receiving sufficient content we will attempt to recreate Bills newsletter, if you have any motorcycle related items, news, snippets, events and so on. Please get in touch and for the current newsletter - Click Here for Newsletter.
We are pleased to help promote Road Safety Scotland's new web site - 'Don't Risk It' a new web site with biking resources and road safety information targeted at motorcyclists. We are told of a competition on the site ( not yet live - 3rd July 2009) with a prize of a 4 day advanced riding course for the winner and two friends.
I am interested in any views, news or comments you have about the 'Dont Risk It ' site or any of these pages. Please get in touch.
