Ever wondered what other motorcyclists do for a living?

Well, now we know. According to the Motorcycle Industry Association’s (MCIA) Two Wheel Data Centre, there has been a surge in insurance quotations (a 32% increase) for riders describing themselves as “company directors”.

While 65% of riders use their motorcycle for commuting to work, there has also been an increase in riders insuring their motorcycle for business use.

Between April and June, quotes for retired riders also increased – up 19% for those insuring new motorcycles compared to the same period in 2015. However, students are still the most likely to be looking for new insurance, even though fewer are looking to using older pre-owned motorcycles.
