MOTION FOR AGM

Published on 29 September 2016 by Robert Drane

Prior to the BMF AGM (October 8, click here for more details), we would like to make members aware of the following proposal for a change in the Constitution.

MOTION FOR AGM

The NOMC (National and One Make Clubs) Forum has put forward the following proposal. The idea behind it is to try to ensure that each Region and Clubs Forum have sufficient representation on the Council.

This is a constitutional change requiring a two-thirds majority at the AGM.

Motion 1

That clause 7.4 be added to the Constitution, to read as follows:

7.4 Additional Councillors

If a full quota of Councillors is not elected at a Regional meeting, or at the National and One-Make Clubs Forum, additional Councillor candidates may be co-opted by the Council according to the following rules.

a)  The proposed Councillor candidate must be a member qualified to vote in the meeting at which Councillors were elected.

b) The proposed Councillor candidate must complete a nomination form which must be seconded by a member qualified to vote in the meeting at which Councillors were elected.

c)  The proposal to co-opt must have the support of a majority of Councillors present at the meeting where such co-option is proposed, which meeting may be convened duing the AGM prior to the ratification of Councillors.

Councillors so co-opted will serve the remainder of the term of office until the next AGM.
