Wells Classic Motorcycle Club is staging its seventh annual Tortoise and Hare Run on June 4 2017. The annual event will be again raising funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

The event will begin at Wells Football Club with hot drinks, pre-ordered breakfast and signing-on taking place 08:00-09:00. Riders will then assemble in their run groups at the picturesque Market Place before being flagged off by the mayor and town crier at 10:00.

The Tortoise Run: Approximately 75 miles. For machines of unlimited capacity, up to year 1955, and small capacity machines, including scooters, up to 250cc and up to 1990.

The Snail Route: Approximately 45 miles. For Veteran’s and very low powered machines. It will be on fairly level countryside.

The Hare Run: Approximately 115 miles. For machines over 250cc up to year 2005.

The routes will go through some outstanding countryside, arriving at Shipham Village Hall for a coffee stop you can redeem one of your four inclusive tea, coffee and cake vouchers. On returning to Wells Football Club for lunch, there will be a second run in the afternoon, returning for tea, cake, a raffle and award presentation.

Entrance is £9 per solo rider or £12 with a pillion – pre-booking is recommended as there is a limit on entries (there is an additional charge if booking on the day). There is a limited amount of onsite camping for Saturday and Sunday nights by application in advance. You can also pre-order food on the entry forms and there are opportunities for marshals, too.
