Motorcycle awareness training is set to be added to Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) materials for learner drivers in the form of a new range of videos.

The CGI videos are designed to encourage trainee drivers to keep motorcycles in mind while they are learning, and will also become part of the DVSA’s range of educational products and official materials.

The videos – an example of which can be found here – were developed with the assistance of the biker and road safety campaigner Ria Brisland, whose son Nick died in 2015 after a car collided with his motorcycle.

Welcoming the new videos, Road Safety Minister Michael Ellis MP said: “Britain’s roads are among the safest in the world, but still far too many vulnerable people are involved in fatal and serious injury collisions each year. After reading Ria’s story and her concerns for fellow bikers, I was determined to help her and I am delighted that these clips will now be seen by millions of learners, helping improve road safety.”
