Quite a bit to report for this period - new motorcycle shops opening, events and clubs attended.

In Staffordshire we have seen two new motorcycle shops opening. One a new outlet from an old established name, the other a completely new venture.

CMC opened its new showroom in Cannock, Staffordshire, and I visited to ensure that copies of Motorcycle Rider were available to its customers. I spent time talking to riders who were very receptive to the BMF message - several talking very fondly of BMF rallies they had attended in the past and asking if the BMF intended to run similar events in the future.

The other new shop is Taylor Brothers Motorcycles situated in Haughton, Staffordshire. I have known Julian Taylor for some years, so when I heard he was opening a bike shop of his own, I was sure he would take copies of Motorcycle Rider. This proved to be the case.

In addition to these outlets, I have been spreading the BMF message at other motorcycle shops throughout Staffordshire, including Stafford Motorcycles.

I also visited the Castlewood Café where I spoke and distributed copies of Motorcycle Rider to riders taking a break, including members of Stafford Advanced Motorcyclists.

An event which takes place every year is the Vintage Motorcycle Club “Burton Bike Run”. This is a lovely event where members ride their bikes around a circular run through Staffordshire, starting and finishing in Burton on Trent. The halfway stop is the Clifford Arms in Great Haywood where riders stop for refreshments and many people gather to view the wide variety of machines taking part. Numerous copies of Motorcycle Rider were distributed at this location, again I received a good reception.

Finally I took time to visit Oxleaters Motorcycle Club, Stafford, who are affiliated to the BMF. I gave a talk to members at their monthly meeting in which I covered the work of the BMF and how the organization works to protect riders’ rights.

Rider Safe.
