BMW mini scooter coming?

Despite stating in 2013 that their plans were simply to ‘remain focused on building cars, fresh rumours are flying that BMW may yet bring the much talked about Mini Citysurfer scooter into production.

Having unveiled the original concept at the 2010 Paris motor show, interest has been rekindled by new images and information released by the BMW group this autumn. The manufacturers are keen to outline the benefits and capabilities of the scooter;  ‘MINI Citysurfer Concept combines the agile riding properties of a kick scooter with an electric drive and expressive design features in the style of the British premium brand’.

Folding, ‘last mile’ transport options have been around for a while, but if the Citysurfer does ever make its way onto our streets, BMW will be the first major brand to enter the market and attempt to alter the face of urban, two-wheel transport.

But would be scooter-commuters shouldn’t get too excited; there is still no word on a release or even a commercial production date.
