The standard requirements pertaining to category A test vehicles will change from December 31 2018.

Following the revision, test vehicles will be required to have:

  • 180kg minimum kerb weight
  • 50kW minimum engine power

From January 1 2019, motorcycles that do not adhere to the above standards will not be accepted for the motorcycle test. Those vehicles affected are categorised as ‘A*’ on the published list.

Vehicles classified as ‘A’ remain approved for the test. Categories A1, A2 and AM are not affected.

More information can be found on the government website.
