Don’t miss out on this free MoT reminder service
Whether or not you struggle to recall when your next MoT is due, everyone can appreciate the value of a timely reminder.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has recently introducing a text message service that does just that. To register for the free reminder service, all you require is your number plate and a contact mobile number or email address.
The reminder service is non-intrusive, sending you a text four weeks in advance of your MOT due date and again two weeks before if you still haven’t sorted it. If your vehicle doesn’t currently have a valid MoT, the service will also remind you to get one, helping avoid a fine of up to £1,000 and, most importantly, help you to avoid breaking the law.
Gareth Llewellyn, DVSA Chief Executive, said: “DVSA’s priority is to help you keep your vehicle safe to drive.”
“Motorists should also remember that to be a safe and responsible driver, and reduce the risk of your vehicle’s condition causing an accident that kills or seriously injures someone, you need to check your vehicle all year round.”
The MoT text reminder service operates using the gov.uk Notify platform and has been available in a beta version since November 2017, allowing the DVSA to iron out any issues before rolling it out completely.
