Brighton and Hove Council is due to debate the future of the world-famous Madeira Drive after two competing petitions about it achieved enough signatures.

As the BMF has previously reportedthe global icon in motorcycling culture was closed to all motorised traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Campaigns to reopen Madeira Drive and to keep it closed permanently began, with petitions for both being launched.

As both petitions achieved the necessary threshold of 1,250 signatures in time, both campaigns will be invited to present their cases to a meeting of the Council on Thursday 23rd July. The meeting will also be live-streamed via the Council’s website
