Motorcycle giveaway by Essex police
Safer Essex Roads Partnership launched a road safety campaign in which young riders could be in with a chance of winning a brand new motorbike.
The Street Spirit campaign aims to reduce the risks that young riders face on the road by improving education for new and prospective scooter or moped riders.
Young bikers are required to study five educational videos and complete a quiz to be in with a chance of winning one of two new motorcycles, along with a year’s insurance and full protective gear. The tutorials are split into sections including Getting on the Road, Protection, Road Skills, Maintenance and Road Safety Information and Research.
Road traffic collision reduction manager for Essex Fire and Rescue Service Andy Stroulger said: “The short videos give advice on getting on the road for the first time, highlight the benefits of wearing good protective clothing, provide tips on riding skills and road positioning, give advice on bike maintenance and encourage further training for those riders who go on to pass their full motorcycle tests.”
The quiz takes approximately five minutes to complete. Participants will be entered into a draw to win either a Yamaha MT-125, worth £4,299, or a Yamaha Aerox, worth £2,499.
Mr Stroulger added: “We want to encourage a safer, more responsible approach to riding and it is hoped that over time, the campaign will lead to a reduction in collisions for these vulnerable young riders.”
