The European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM) published its report on the powered two wheeler (PTW) market on 10 February 2015.
ACEM's data reveals that in 2014 a total of 1,099,000 PTWs were registered in the European Union, while 57,550 PTWs were registered in European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries. The highest number of PTW registrations occurred in France (251,500), followed by Italy (184,800), Germany (175,800), Spain (126,200) and the UK (102,100).2014 is the first year since 2007 that the number of PTW registrations remains stable on a year-on-year basis. In addition, given that data for some countries is not available yet, it is possible that PTW registrations have actually increased on a year-on-year basis, reflecting a very healthy marketplace.
The number one model for the EU was the BMW R1200GS, followed by the Yamaha MT07 in second place and the Peugeot Kisbee 50 in third. The number one model for the UK was the Honda CBF125M.
