The National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA) has launched a campaign to help promote motorcycles and other powered two-wheelers (PTWs) as alternatives to public transport.

The ‘Safe to Ride’ campaign is highlighting the benefits that motorcycles offer during the COVID-19 pandemic and other circumstances, such as affordability, low emissions, good fuel economy and the freedom of the road.

Commenting, Head of the NMDA Paddy O’Connell said: “Motorcycles represent the best option for those who want to avoid public transport and, with just a single day of Compulsory Basic Training needed, the transition to PTWs is very easy.

“Motorcycles offer a ‘COVID-safe’ way to get from A to B, they are cheap to run, environmentally friendly, easy to park and, being able to avoid traffic jams, they give you freedom and a fun way to travel or commute.

“Following the strong uptake of PTWs in the summer months, the NMDA will continue to work with dealers to encourage more people into the motorcycle world”.
