Not normally a problem in continental Europe, but again the BMF have teamed up with UEM (Union Europeenne de Motocyclisme), the European section of the FIM, to offer their hotel accreditation scheme whereby biker-friendly hotels can be booked via the website.
You will find hotels and campsites listed that fulfil the following criteria and display the FIM-UEM sign. (use sign from website)
- Easily accessible, protected garaging facility
- Lockable drying room for clothing (if the bedroom is not large enough for this)
- Washing and maintenance facility for motorcycles nearby · Addresses and telephone numbers of nearest dealers
- Recommendations for local touring roads ( including trail riding where applicable)
- Information on local weather forecast, road conditions etc. (especially applicable in the Alps!)
- Hoteliers who like motorcyclists!
Where applicable the UEM-FIM approved hotels also have their own e mail and internet addresses listed so often you can book in advance or make more detailed inquiries yourself on line. At the last count we had exceeded fifty hotels!
