National Road Rally

National Road Rally 2021

Please note that these dates are subject to government COVID-19 restrictions.

This year, we have been able to hold a two-day National Road Rally (NRR). You can ride on either day independently or ride on both to increase your level of award. There will be no riding through the night, but hopefully that element will be reintroduced in the coming years.

As we are unsure of the pandemic implications, we have decided once again to run the NRR as a ‘non-contact’ event with unattended controls and an online entries and results system, as we did in 2020. Various levels of award are achievable, from bronze through to platinum.

In a ‘non-COVID’ time, the controls are manned by various volunteers who add so much to the event in the form of support, refreshments, chat and camaraderie. This year, to keep everyone safe, the controls will be non-contact and will have a code that will need to be entered online at the end of the rally. Riders can sign in via the NRR website and log in to their own area in the MyNRR system, where the regulations, control location map (a.k.a 'the matrix') and the control details will be available.

We are excited to announce that we will have a 100-control matrix that spans the majority of England this year. Any fully licenced rider on any two- or three-wheeled machine is welcome. Full details of the event can be found on the NRR's website here

One of the features of the NRR is that riders only get issued with the list of controls 10 days before the start of the event. This then leads to a whole buzz of riders discussing what route is the best route for them to achieve their targeted award. However, we all know that, due to unforeseen ‘happenings’ on the day, it is always best to have a route B or even C, D, E etc! Riders sit down with the list, a map and a coffee and scribble away, although some replace the paper and map with a sat nav and laptop and some replace the coffee with a pint.

Some riders choose to ride alone, some in twos and some choose a quirky team name and register a team of three. All teams get a team certificate upon completion and a listing in the Hall of Fame on the website.

For 2021, we have designed a fantastic snood available in two colours: charcoal and white logo (available here) or pale grey and multi-coloured logo (available here). Both are also available via the NRR website and Facebook page. A further range of BMF merchandise is available here.

£30 rider and £10 pillion, no extra charge for team entries.

All entries close midnight on Thursday 1st July.

In light of the recent updates, the BMF are currently reviewing all upcoming bmf events.

We have taken the precaution of suspending ticket sales for the time being.

The BMF Management Team will take whatever action is necessary in relation to events and will endeavour to reschedule if the need arises.

However we will be following government protocols and if we are instructed to cancel rather than postpone please be reassured that we will refund all tickets.

We will hopefully be in a better position to update further in the near future.

Thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time for all of us.

Ride safe and keep well
