Good news continues for bike sales
The recent run of growth in motorcycle sales and registrations has continued and September saw 11.8% growth year-on-year.
New statistics from the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) have confirmed that the trend of growth that the BMF highlighted in August, July and June continued in September too, with a grand total of 14,513 machines of all kinds entering circulation.
Scooters and mopeds saw the strongest growth, with a 23% rise in sales and registrations year-on-year, and this suggests that the ongoing trend in commuters switching to powered-two-wheelers (PTWs) is continuing to have an effect. Motorcycles of all kinds also performed well, with 10.3% in year-on-year growth.
A statement on the MCIA’s website noted that: “Despite the Spring lockdown, which saw very few PTWs registered during the start of traditional peak sales period, the year-to-date market is now just 8.3% behind the first nine months of 2019, as the gap continues to narrow.“
