BMF's Anna Zee and Jim Freeman re-elected to FEMA board at Brussels meeting
On the 5th & 6th February, FEMA held its Annual Meeting, in the new offices at 35 Square de Meeus. The Board were re-elected by the Meeting, with the BMF’s Anna Zee & Jim Freeman as, respectively, President & Treasurer. The other Board Members, with unassigned roles, are Rolf Frieling [BU], Neil Liversidge [MAG UK], Wim Taal [MAG NL] & Maria Nordqvist [SMC]. The meeting was ably co-ordinated by Dolf Willigers, the General Secretary.
The Delegates, from the National Motorcycle Organizations, numbered 24, from 14 Nations representing 18 NMOs. The reach of representation ranged, geographically, from Iceland to Greece, via Finland & France. The organisations also represent somewhere between 250.000 -300,000 riders across Europe.
The meeting approved the Budget for 2016, endorsing the appointment of a Communications Officer, setting the strategy for the coming year.
The Board interviewed 3 candidates for the Communications Officer Role, short listed from the applications received in December 2015. The interviewed candidates were all from within NMOs, dedicated to rider’s rights lobbying, with proven talent & expertise for the job. Due to the quality of the candidates, it was a hard choice to make, which means that the announcement will be made after RIDER goes to press.
The Annual Meeting closed with a general feeling of optimism about the direction FEMA is taking, after a period of renewal and re-organisation.
