According to research from insurance quotations between April and July 2016, most motorcyclists are aged between 20 and 30 years old.

The next biggest demographic is riders aged over 50 – the age group make up 17% of all motorcycle insurance quotes and has increased in size by 17% since last year.

The research was conducted by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) who says that this might prove the perception that motorcyclists’ “average age is going up”. However, they also noted that it could be because motorcyclists over 50 years old are simply more price-aware, getting more quotations before committing to purchasing their insurance.
