South Yorkshire Police have confirmed the recovery of a spectacular 204 stolen motorcycles by its specialist off-road bike team.

As part of celebrating the second anniversary of the team, which has seen more than 360 deployments since it was first set up in August 2017, the SYP also noted that 38 arrests had been made and 101 offenders received summons for various offences.

Commenting, Inspector Craig Clifton of the SYP Operational Support Unit said: “Over the past two years, the off-road bike team have disrupted criminal behaviour and tackled issues that matter to you the most…. We are now working with local partners and using technology such as drones to enhance the way in which we tackle the problem, but we are only as strong as our communities.

“I would like to thank the public for continuing to report problems and providing us with intelligence about bikes and riders. This information has helped recover stolen bikes and, where possible, reunite them with their owners.”
