The future is HUD

According to a TechSci Research report, the global Head-Up Display (HUD) market is projected to reach $5.06 billion by 2019. Among all sectors, defense and automotive are the major contributing sectors in terms of revenue for the global HUD market. The automotive sector is expected to witness robust growth due to increasing demand for enhanced safety and luxury coupled with rising per capita income of consumers.

Part of this market is Head-Up Displays for motorbikes. Bikesystems is a Stoke on Trent-based business launching their product – second generation HUD technology – on Kickstarter (see campaign here).

Their new Bikehud Adventure in-helmet display uses a transparent screen and fits full-face and most flip-front helmets. It includes custom display modes for racing and everyday road use. The optional Bikevision camera system includes full HD 1080p forward and rearward facing cameras.

Bikesystems is behind the already successful Bikehud Classic Head-Up Display, which started to ship to customers worldwide in January 2014. Managing Director of Bikesystems, Dave Vout, said: “We’re developing a product based on real life experience and feedback from our first entry-level product. We’re using technology to connect the rider, their surroundings and the bike. Bikehud Adventure and Bikevision don’t just make riding more fun, they also make it safer. What’s more, our plug-and-play design and scalable solution means that our products suits all pockets and needs.”
